...and now, chips with that!
OK, a promise is a promise, so here is the first bloggings in English - as you can probably gather from the previous unless you are totally spastic, I was recently in Italy, Monza to be precise, for the World SBK round... The paddock is mayhem in any Italian round, the locals are fanatics and with so many of the teams and riders being local, practically everybody has a cousin or friend in a team and tries to scrounge paddock passes and look like team staff. The boldest have the team uniforms down to a tee, to the extent that many teams employ private security to safeguard their garages. The racing, as usual, was brill, tho' Monza is hardly a spectator place... and that chicane is a death trap that should have been done away with a long time ago... mind, I used to watch SBK there when there was NO chicane... and they entered the right hander after the straight at some 260 Km/h! Raymond Roche crashed there one year and they could not find the bike buried under layers of straw bales! Laverty should have won the Supersport race, but he wins hands down easily in the gorgeous gilrfriend stakes. Must say the umbrella girls were letting the side down a bit (and in many cases the top and bottom as well!) 38 seemed the average age, definitely a case of "nice from afar, far from nice". The eye-tays also remain convinced of their superiority in things of the palate, but even expensive-ish restaurants leave a lot to be desired as for food, slowness of service and so on... the best thing was to wizz past airport security as Executive fares entitle you to a special time-saving channel. Ah, well, that's it... what was all the fuss about, I hear you ask... Well, I only introduced English in the name of fairness, quotas and all that, and as many of you probably know, those sort of criteria always bring mediocrity about ... so don't complain!
